According to libyaakhbar.com website, the northwestern city of Gharyan is hosting the Quranic event,

It kicked off at the city’s Martyrs Hall on August 19 and will run until Thursday, August 24.

A cultural association named al-Mahajja al-Bayza annually organizes the event.

Khayriya Abudina, the head of the association, said 304 women are taking part in the 5th edition of the contest.

She said they are competition in the category of memorization of the Holy Quran at different levels.

Efforts to develop Quranic activities in Libya are being made despite the violence that has plagued many parts of the North African country since a NATO military intervention led to the overthrow of former dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
