Students of Karbala Dar-ol-Quran Center in Iran for Int’l Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Most of the Iraqi representatives at the 35th international Quran competition in Iran are Quran students of the Dar-ol-Quran Center of Imam Hussein’s (AS) holy shrine.

 

According to the website of the center, Safa Seilawi, head of the center’s information office, said that four Iraqi Quran activists representing Iraq at the international competition are those who took part in the two Quranic plans of the center titled “Thousand Quran Memorizers” and “Golden Voice”.

He added that Ali Aqeel Khaleel, Mortadha Ali Naji, Zaman Abdul Kareem, and Qeysar Dajili are the four representatives of the country respectively competing in the categories of the memorization of the entire Quran in men’s section, memorization of the entire Quran for the visually impaired, memorization of the entire Quran in the women’s section, and Quran recitation category.

Seilawi added that Iraqi Quran expert Sheikh Khayruddin Hadi is also a member of the jury panel of the competition in teh field of Waqf and Ibtida.

The “Thousand Quran Memorizers” Plan is one of the main Quranic projects of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein’s (AS) holy shrine that is implemented all over Iraq aiming to raise a generation of Quran memorizers who can represent the country at international Quran competitions and Quranic programs in different parts of the world.

The 35th International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran kicked off on April 19 at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall) in Tehran.

According to the organizers, nearly 370 foreign guests, including the contenders, Quran experts and members of the panels, are in Iran for the Quranic events.

They will go on until Tuesday and winners in different categories will be announced and awarded at the closing ceremony on Wednesday.

The contests are annually held by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization with the aim of promoting Quranic activities and enhancing unity among Muslims.
