TEHRAN (IQNA) – A group of Somali women voluntarily collect worn copies of the Quran and repair them.

According to al Jazeera, they act as part of initiative called Tazim al-Quran (glorify the Quran).

The women volunteers collect old and worn-out copies of the Holy Book from mosques, schools and homes, and after repairing them, distribute them among Quran memorization centers and mosques.

In the past four months, they have collected 10,000 copies and repaired 300 so far.

Their initiative has raised awareness in the country about the need for preserving Qurans.

Somalia is a country in the Horn of Africa. Nearly all people in Somalia are Muslims.
