Leader Offers Condolence on Death of Senior Cleric
The senior cleric died on Saturday at the age of 83. He had been hospitalized at a hospital in Qom a few days ago due to pelvis and wrist fractures.
The full text of the Leader’s message, according to Khamenei.ir, is as follows:
In the Name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I offer my condolences over the demise of Ayatollah Haj Sheikh Yusuf Saanei (may God be pleased with him) to his respected children, family and his dear, honorable brother, as well as to the students, admirers and friends of that honorable scholar. He was a hard-working student of the principles of Islamic jurisprudence and a close associate of Imam Khomeini (may Allah elevate his status). After the victory of the Revolution, he served in important posts in the judiciary and had other responsibilities. It is hoped that all of this will be accepted by God and elevate his position in the afterlife. I ask God for His mercy and forgiveness for him.
