Students Quran Competition Held in Uganda

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A competition on Quran memorization and recitation was organized for students in Uganda.

 

It was jointly held by the country’s UBC National TV and the Iranian Cultural Center in Kampala, the capital with the participation of 50 school students.

Top participants were awarded in a ceremony attended by representatives of the TV channel as well as two eminent Quran memorizers of the country.

Addressing the program, Farideh Ali Kulumba, director of the executive board of the TV channel’s office for holding Quranic and Islamic contests, lauded the role of the Iranian Cultural Center in dissemination of the Quranic culture in the African country.

Also speaking at the program, Mohammadreza Qezelsofla, the Iranian cultural attaché in Uganda, stressed the need for acting upon the teachings of the Quran, describing the Divine Book as the most comprehensive guidance in all aspects of life.

Ten top Quran memorizers and Qaris of the competition were awarded collections of cultural products including a translation of Dastan-e Rastan in the Luganda language and an 8-volume collection of Quranic books for children and teenagers.
