Iranian Qari Lauds Strong Level of Croatia’s Int’l Quran Contest
He arrived in Tehran on Monday morning and spoke with IQNA about the contest.
Hailing the high level of competition, he noted that all the participants were strong. Mokari said representatives from some 40 countries had participated in the event.
He said that the participation of qaris from various countries made the trip a great opportunity for him to promote the Quranic activities of Iranians.
Mokari said he also recited some verses in Friday prayers and in the closing ceremony of the competition.
The competition began in the European country’s capital of Zagreb on September 22 and wrapped up in an awarding ceremony on September 24.
Last year, Iran’s Sina Tabbakhi came first in the memorization category after competing with 33 memorizers from 26 countries.
Born in 2005 in the central city of Isfahan, Ali Reza Mokari is a MA student in the field of Quran and Hadith at the University of Quranic Sciences and Teachings.
He has won various ranks in national and international Quran contests before, including the top prize in the Meshkat international Quran competition last year.
The young Quran reciter was a member of Iran’s Noor (Light) Quranic Convoy that held Quranic programs in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina during Hajj earlier this year.
In recent years, Iranian qaris and Quran memorizers have made great accomplishments in various international Quranic events held in countries like Malaysia, Russia, Kuwait, Turkey, and Croatia.
