TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas voiced opposition to participation of Palestinian groups in a planned meeting in Egypt’s Sharm El-Sheikh purportedly aimed at easing tensions in the occupied territories.

Mousa Abu Marzouq

The head of Hamas’ political bureau, Mousa Abu Marzouq, said what is on the movement’s agenda is intensifying the resistance against the Zionist regime, Palestineinfo website reported.

He criticized the Palestinian Authority for its decision to take part in the meeting, calling on the PA to develop coordination with the Palestinian nation instead of cooperation with the Zionist enemy.

Abu Marzouq warned that the Israeli regime is planning new attacks on Palestinians residing in the 1948 occupied territories by demolishing homes.

He also underlined that Palestinians support Sheikh Khizr Adnan who has gone on hunger strike in one of the Zionist regime’s jails.

In other news, a Hamas delegation led by Abu Marzouq held talks with Mikhail Bogdanov, the Russian president’s Special Presidential Representative on the Middle East.

In this meeting, the two sides discussed the latest developments in Palestine and the aggressive policies of the Tel Aviv regime under its new far-right cabinet.

The Hamas delegation underlined the legitimate right of the Palestinian nation to resist the Israeli regime’s aggression.

Bogdanov, for his part, voiced his country’s support for the Palestinian nation’s rights and elaborated on Moscow’s efforts to ease tensions.

The Israeli regime has escalated its attacks on Palestinians and its provocative moves in recent weeks.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced on Friday that a total of 88 Palestinians have been martyred across Palestine since the beginning of 2023.
