The Sadr movement in Iraq said the US-Led coalition formed against the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has not attacked any of the terrorist group’s major bases yet.

Juma Diwan, an Iraqi lawmaker and a member of the movement said the coalition is not serious about fighting ISIL, al-Alam news network reported.
He added that since the coalition started its airstrikes, the security situation in Iraqi cities has gotten even worse as the anti-ISIL coalition has actually set the ground for the terrorist militants to make progress in cities.
“The international coalition led by the US has not yet attacked any of ISIL’s main bases including those where they keep weapons and ammunitions. They, instead, strike insignificant sites that have no considerable impact on ISIL’s capabilities.”
He noted that the Iraqi air force has stopped airstrikes on ISIL targets at the request of the US government so that the coalition forces would attack them but the coalition air force has shown no seriousness in confronting ISIL.
ISIL militants made swift advances in much of northern and western Iraq over the summer, after capturing large swaths of northern Syria.
Since late September, the US and several of its Arab allies including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates have been conducting airstrikes against ISIL inside Syria without any authorization from Damascus or a UN mandate.
The US began airstrikes on ISIL targets in Iraq in mid-August. Several Western nations, including Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Britain, France and Australia have joined the US military campaign in Iraq.
