Competitions on Hajj, Holy Prophet’s Seerah Planned in Egypt

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Egypt’s Awqaf ministry and the country’s Quran Radio plan to jointly hold three religious competitions, including one on Hajj and another on the Seerah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The decision to organize the contests was reached during a meeting on Tuesday between Awqaf Minister Mohammed Mukhtar Gomaa and Head of the Quran Radio Mohammad Nawar, El-Balad News reported.

The first competition, dubbed ‘Prophet of Guidance’, will start on June 21 and run for a month.

Teenagers under the age of 18 can take part in the contest, whose aim is introducing the life, character and status of the last messenger of God.

Another competition named ‘Hajj Mabrur’ will feature questions on the Hajj pilgrimage. It will be held for twenty days starting on June 21.

The other joint competition, which will be held weekly, will feature questions on new innovative issues in the field of Fiqh.

Egypt is a country in North Africa with a population of around 100 million. Muslims account for around 90 percent of the country’s total population.
