TEHRAN (IQNA) – The spokeswoman for Russia’s foreign ministry denounced a recent act of Quran desecration by Ukrainian soldiers.

Holy Quran

Maria Zakharova said on Thursday that Moscow strongly condemns the sacrilegious move by Ukrainian armed forces.

“The Kiev regime, which has finally lost its moral bearings, continues to deliberately engage in practices that flagrantly violate the rights of believers, insult their feelings and cause them deep psychological suffering. Another blasphemy of morally degraded people was the mockery of the Holy Quran and its subsequent burning, which was videotaped by Ukrainian servicemen and distributed on social networks,” she said, according to Tass.

She added, “We strongly condemn this and other acts of desecration by the regime of [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky and his minions, regardless of what religion or confession they are directed against.”

Radical elements in the Ukrainian army recently released a video featuring their desecration of a copy of Islam’s Holy Book.

The TikTok video posted online shows Ukrainian soldiers tearing a page from a copy of the Quran and placing it in a fire, where it subsequently caught alight.

The move drew widespread condemnations, with the president of Chechnya vowing to find and punish those behind the sacrilegious act.

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said he is committed to finding and punishing the Ukrainian soldiers who desecrated the Quran.

He described the move as a sign of fascism and satanism and said he would spare no effort to find the perpetrators and punish them.

Kadyrov also offered a huge reward to anyone who finds him the Ukrainian soldiers.
