TEHRAN (IQNA) – Al-Haqqah is one of the names of the Day of Judgment. It means something that is certain, determined and real. The Surah warns those who deny the Resurrection Day and portrays their situation on that day.

Surah Al-Haqqah

Al-Haqqah is the name of the Quran’s 69th chapter that has 52 verses and is in the 29th Juz. It is the 78th Surah revealed to the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

In the first three verses the word Al-Haqqah is repeated and hence the name of the Surah.

Al-Haqqah means something that is certain, determined and real and the reason it is repeated in the Surah is to give a warning about the Resurrection Day.

The main theme of this Surah is the Day of Judgment and its description. It talks about the fact that it will certainly come and about the fate of those who deny it.

The chapter has three main sections. The first one is about what happened to peoples who lived in the past. Peoples like those of Aad, Thamud, Lut, and also the pharaoh who rejected the invitation of the prophets of God and received divine punishment. It also talks about what happened to those who believed Noah (AS) and were saved by getting on board Noah’s Ark.

The second part elaborates on the Day of Judgment and how people are divided on that day. There will be two groups of people: Those who are given their book in their right hand. They are the ones who are happy on that day.

And there are those who are given their book in their left hand. They are sad and waiting for severe punishment for what they did in this world.

The third part of the Surah includes great emphasis on the truthfulness of the Quran and prophethood and the last messenger of God. There is also emphasis on the fact that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) never fabricates against God.

According to the final verses of the Surah, if someone falsely claims to be a prophet of God, even if people fail to recognize his falsehood, God will certainly reveal his lie and punish him.
