Young Egyptian Diagnosed with Intellectual Disability Manages to Learn Quran by Heart

CAIRO (IQNA) – Mahmoud Nasr is a young Egyptian who has managed to memorize the entire Quran despite being suffering from an intellectual disability.

Mahmoud is from Atildam Village in the North African country’s Minya Governorate.

He learned the Quran by heart by listening to the recitation of the verses of the Quran, Egyptian media outlets reported. 

It took him two years to memorize the entire Holy Book. He knows where exactly each verse is in a Juz or a Hizb of the Quran.

His father says he was surprised at Mahmoud’s success in memorizing the Quran.

The annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons was proclaimed in 1992 by the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 47/3.

According to Islam, physical and disabilities are not a punishment but a divine test.

All people are tested by God in different ways. Some are tested through their wealth, some through tragedies, and some via disabilities.

The Holy Quran commands people to be kind to people with disabilities and to help and support them.

This is also highlighted in the Seerah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
