IQNA – More than 100 organizations have endorsed a historic march for Palestine in Washington, DC on Saturday, Jan. 13, to demand an end to the US support for the Israeli genocide in Gaza.

Pro-Palestine rally in Washington

The march, which is expected to be the largest in a series of Palestine solidarity rallies held in the nation's capital, is sponsored by the American Muslim Task Force for Palestine in partnership with the ANSWER Coalition.

It will start at the National Mall and end at the White House, where protesters will urge President Biden to secure a ceasefire, stop providing weapons to Israel, and hold Israeli officials accountable for war crimes.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the largest Muslim civil rights organization in the US, has called on every person in America opposed to the ongoing massacre in Gaza to join the march.

"We urge every American who is outraged by the daily images of the ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing in Gaza to rally in our nation's capital on January 13 to show elected officials that they are defying the clear call of the people to end our nation's complicity in war crimes. Americans can and should stop this genocide by holding the Biden administration accountable," CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said in a statement on Tuesday.

The organizers of the rally also issued a statement, saying: “We encourage Americans of all backgrounds to join this historic march through Washington, DC and demand that President Biden secure a ceasefire, stop providing weapons to the Israeli government, and hold Israeli officials accountable for the crimes against humanity they have committed with U.S. taxpayer dollars.”

“President Biden has spent three months ignoring the screams of Palestinian children trapped under the rubble of their homes and the cries of grieving mothers in besieged hospitals across Gaza. This must end. We must ensure that President Biden hears the voices of the American people loudly and clearly outside the White House on Saturday, Jan. 13,” added the statement.

The Israeli aggression on Gaza, which was triggered by a surprise retaliatory attack by Hamas-led Palestinian resistance groups, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, has killed more than 22,000 people, mostly women and children, and wounded at least 57,000 others since April 2023. The regime has also cut off access to water, food and power supplies to the besieged territory, creating a humanitarian catastrophe.
