IQNA –  The Islamic Waqf department, which manages Al-Aqsa Mosque in al-Quds, said today that only 15,000 worshippers were allowed to enter the holy site for Friday prayers due to the Israeli occupation restrictions.

Israeli Regimes Denies Thousands of Muslims' Access to Al-Aqsa Mosque for Friday Prayers

The mosque, which is the third holiest in Islam, can normally accommodate up to 300,000 people.

According to the Waqf, which is run by Jordan, the regime prevented thousands of Muslims from reaching the mosque by imposing tight security measures around the Old City of al-Quds and the West Bank, WAFA news agency reported.

The restrictions have been in place since October 7, when the regime launched a genocidal war on the besieged Gaza Strip.

Local sources reported that Israeli forces used stun grenades, tear gas, and wastewater to disperse and attack worshippers, pedestrians, and journalists near the Wadi al-Joz area, close to the Old City.

Several people were injured in the clashes.

A video clip circulating online showed a woman being assaulted by Israeli forces as she tried to access the mosque through the Al-Asbat Gate, one of the main entrances to the compound.
