IQNA – A conference on Mahdism (awaiting the reappearance of the Savior) is planned to be held in Istanbul, Turkey, early next month.

Slated for March 2-3, it will be attended by academics, scholars and thinkers from Iran and Turkey, according to Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Vahid Kashani, head of the regional office of Al-Mustafa International University.

He said the conference is aimed at promoting discourse, creating a space for dialogue and enhancing interaction among the two countries’ elites.

Expounding on Mahdism thought is the main purpose of the event, whose main themes are “Mahdism in Quran”, “Mahdism in Hadiths”, “Mahdism in other schools”, and “belief in Mahdism from viewpoint of sociology”, he stated.

Mahdism refers to the belief that the last Shia Imam, Imam Zaman (may God hasten his glad advent), will reappear at the end of time and spread justice in the world.
