Quranic Meeting Held in Karbala

-- Concurrent with the birth anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) a great Quranic gathering was held on July 26 by the Quranic center of the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) in Baynul Haramain (between the two shrines), in Karbala.
According to Aba news agency, the gathering was attended by religious and cultural figures including Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalaei, managing director of the office of the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS), Valid al-Helli advisor to the Iraqi prime minister, Khaled al-Mowla, head of the southern branch of the Association of Muslim scholars in Iraq, Amal al-Din al-Har governor of Karbala, as well as the Minister of Tourism and Deputy of the Shia Endowments Authority.
At the meeting, which was held to celebrate the anniversary of the center’s establishment, choral recitation of Quranic verses were performed by participants and religious songs were sung by a group from the city of Najaf.
Addressing the ceremony, Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalaei said, “Various activities have been carried out by the center so far in order to spread the Quranic culture in Iraqi society.”
“The Quranic center of the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) aims to promote Quran recitation and religious injunctions as well as Quranic sciences among the people of the country particularly the youth,” he added.
