Quranic Gathering Held in Bangladesh

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A number of Bangladeshi Quran memorizers, reciters and judges of Quran competitions were honored in a great Quranic gathering held in Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka.


According to the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the Islamic Foundation of Bangladesh organized the program which was attended by the Egyptian ambassador to Bangladesh, deputy of Iranian cultural attaché in this country, the senior advisor to the Prime minister of Bangladesh, Minister of Religious Affairs, head of the Islamic foundation and a number of scholars and eminent religious and cultural figures.





The program started with Quran recitation by Sheikh Ahmad ibn Yusuf, top Bangladeshi Qari, and continued with a speech by Shamim Afdhal Khan, head of the foundation, who introduced Quranic activities of the foundation.





Asghar Khosrow Abadi, the Iranian official in the program then appreciated the efforts of the foundation and its effective cooperation with the Iranian Cultural Center in Quranic affairs.





More than 50000 top Quran memorizers, reciters, and Quran activists of the country were honored in the program.





The Iranian official also had a meeting with the Bangladeshi minister of religious affairs and directors of the foundation on the sidelines of the gathering.





He asked for more cooperation in Quranic activities between the two countries and suggested that Iran can provide the Bangladeshi Quran activists with its valuable experiences in holding international Quran competitions.
