In a statement, Al-Azhar Center for Electronic Fatwa said that the Mi’raj is one of the fixed miracles of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) according to Al-Isra and Al-Najm Surahs and hadiths, Alwafd reported.
All Muslims agree on the miracles based on narrations and there is no doubt about it, Al-Azhar added.
Any insult to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and describing his miracles as illusions is tantamount to questioning the religious position of Islam’s Messenger and a clear offense and crime.
Earlier, while speaking on a TV channel, Ibrahim Issa had cast doubts on the miracle of Mi’raj, claiming it to be a fake story. He had also said: “A Muslim in 2022 does not need any cleric or sheikh in his life. What will he do for you?"
Al-Azhar had condemned the statements, noting that such remarks undermine religious sanctities and systematically challenge Islamic principles.
Al-Mi’raj or al-Isra is the nightly journey of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) from Mecca to al-Aqsa Mosque and from there to the skies. Both Shi'a and Sunni are unanimous regarding the happening of Mi'raj according to frequent verses and hadiths.
