TEHRAN (IQNA) – Registration for the 7th edition of a national Quranic plan for teenagers in Iraq began on Thursday and will conclude today.

Entitled Amir al-Qurra (king of Quran reciters), it is organized by the Holy Quran Scientific Assembly affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of Hazrat Abbas (AS) holy shrine.

Those from all over Iraq willing to take part in the Quranic event are required to submit a video file of their recitation of the Quran in either Iraqi or Egyptian style.

The applicants should not be above 17 years of age, according to the regulations, Al-Kafeel website reported. The plan is annually implemented in the summer when schools are closed.

The teenagers who qualify to take part in the plan gather in the holy city of Karbala to learn and enhance their skills in Quran recitation.

They take the courses organized by the Holy Quran Scientific Assembly under the supervision of Quran masters and experts.

Identifying Iraqi Quranic talents and training them in the field of Quran recitation are among the objectives of the plan.
