26th Dubai International Quran Award: Top Winners Awarded (+Photos)

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Top three winners of the 26th Dubai International Holy Quran Award were recognized in a ceremony in Dubai on Tuesday night.

 

The top prize went to Saleh Ahmed from Bangladesh. Ethiopia’s Abbas Hadi Omar and Saudi Arabia’s Khaled Al Burkani ranked next respectively, according to Emirates News Agency.

The ceremony was attended by contestants as well as a number of UAE officials.

Dr. Ahmed Omar Hashem, the former president of Al-Azhar University, was also named the Islamic Personality of the Dubai International Quran Award Competition this year. His son received the award on behalf of his father.

Members of the panel of arbiters were also recognized at the event.

Quran memorizers from 65 countries competed in the Quranic event which was held in the memorization category.

The contenders were required to read from memory the verses specified by the panel. They had to recite the verses in the Hafs from Asim narration.

The competition’s panel of arbiters comprised Quran experts from the host country as well as Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Egypt, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

The Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) is annually organized in the holy month of Ramadan.
